Assisted Pull-Up Packs — Build Your Way to Unassisted Pull-Ups

Our Assisted Pull-Up Packs are specifically curated to help you achieve your first pull-up, increase your rep count, or progress toward advanced movements like muscle-ups. Each pack contains multiple 1M Latex Power Bands at different resistance levels, giving you a clear path from assisted to unassisted pull-ups.

The concept is simple: loop the band over your pull-up bar and place your foot or knee in the bottom of the loop. The band supports a portion of your body weight, making the pull-up easier. As you get stronger, you move to a thinner band with less assistance until you can perform the movement unassisted.

How Assisted Pull-Up Training Works

Progressive resistance reduction is the most effective method for building pull-up strength, and it is the approach used by strength coaches and personal trainers worldwide. Start with the heaviest band in your pack, which provides the most assistance. Once you can perform 8 to 10 clean reps with that band, move down to the next lighter band. Continue this progression until you are using the lightest band for sets of 8 to 10, and then attempt your first unassisted pull-up.

Most people who follow this progression consistently achieve their first unassisted pull-up within 4 to 12 weeks, depending on their starting strength level. Check out our Resistance Band Exercises Blog for pull-up training tips and workout guides. The key is consistency — training pull-ups two to three times per week with the appropriate band resistance.

What Is Included?

Each Assisted Pull-Up Pack includes three 1M Latex Power Bands: an X-Light band providing up to 7kg of assistance, a Light band providing up to 15kg of assistance, and a Medium band providing up to 30kg of assistance. This range covers the full progression from complete beginner to near-unassisted. If you need heavier assistance as a starting point, our individual Heavy and X-Heavy 1M Latex Power Bands can be added to your pack. Want to expand your training beyond pull-ups? Pull up bands: frequently asked questions

Which pull up band should I start with?

Start with the heaviest band in your pack, because it takes the largest share of your bodyweight and lets you focus on clean, full-range reps. In our 3-band pull-up pack that's the Medium (black) band, with up to 30kg of assistance. If black isn't enough help, the Extra Heavy Assisted Pull Up Pack starts at black and adds Heavy (purple, up to 45kg of assistance) and X-Heavy (green, up to 60kg of assistance) bands.

How do I choose pull up band resistance for my bodyweight and ability?

Choose by how many strict pull-ups you can do now and how much you weigh: the fewer reps you can manage and the heavier you are, the more assistance you need. Our standard pull-up packs use X-Light (yellow, up to 7kg of assistance), Light (red, up to 15kg) and Medium (black, up to 30kg). The Extra Heavy Assisted Pull Up Pack pairs Medium (black) with Heavy (purple, up to 45kg) and X-Heavy (green, up to 60kg). As a guide, our product pages list the Extra Heavy Assisted Pull Up Pack for lifters over 80kg.

How do I attach a pull up band to a bar?

Loop the band over the bar, thread one end through the other and pull down until it cinches tight around the bar. Then step one foot into the hanging loop, take your grip and lower yourself to straight arms before your first rep. Wear shoes when the band is under your foot, and check the band for nicks or tears before each session.

Can I stack two pull up bands for more assistance?

Yes. Loop two bands over the bar together when one band doesn't give you enough help, then drop back to a single band as you get stronger.

How do I progress to an unassisted pull-up with bands?

Move down one band at a time. Once you can do 8 to 10 clean reps with your current band, switch to the next lighter one, for example Medium (black) to Light (red) to X-Light (yellow). When the lightest band feels easy for sets of 8 to 10, try a strict pull-up without a band. Our guide to resistance band pull-ups has more detail.

Can I use pull up bands for other exercises?

Yes. Our pull-up bands are 1m latex loops, so you can also use them to add resistance to squats and overhead presses, to take some load off dips and muscle-ups, and for mobility work. Pair a 1m band with our Door Jamb Anchor to set up exercises in a doorway.

How long do pull up bands last?

How long a band lasts depends on how often you use it and how you look after it, and each pull-up band is covered by our 6-month warranty against manufacturer defects. To look after your bands, keep them clean and dry, store them out of direct sunlight, check them for nicks or tears before each use, and keep them away from sharp edges on bars and racks.

Is shipping free on pull up bands, and can I return them?

Shipping is free on orders over A$99. Returns are covered by our 60-day money-back guarantee: return any product within 60 days of purchase for a full refund to your original payment method. Return postage is paid by the customer. See our refund policy.
